Paint for dash
Anyone have any paint that would stick to my dash? It's a 1990 v6 5spd
Or know of any paint that will stick to it. I was thinking of using just spray paint, but that might run, and stink for awhile. Color for it red or orange |
Check your local autoparts store (autozone, etc) Don't they make paint for this specific purpose? I swear i've seen it.

is that what my dash is made out of? It looks like it, but it seems like plastic. Thanks

Check a tunning site or forum. I've seen some pretty clean jobs on the fixed up Hondas.

Those vinyl paints peel in a year or two.
The key to painting the interior pieces is in the prep. It must be CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. Scrub with a good soap and water, then wipe with degreaser, then I would wash it with TSP, which will get it squeaky clean and will dull the surface, making for better adhesion. For a real pro job the process is multi-step (adhesion promotor, water based primer, sealer, lacquer primer, paint) but for most needs just getting it cleaned and the surface dulled will work, then primer, then paint. Try a small area with the primer to be sure it won't react. Don't lay it on too heavily, light multiple coats is much better - if you get it too wet it may react with the plastic. You can also use water based primer but it doesn't seem to stick as well. All my interior parts were painted with the same paint as the truck about 5 years ago now, no issues. |
Also, what about the Krylon FUSION plastic paint? I used it on the fairings of my GSXR and it never had any problems for the year after I painted it (before I sold it). It's supposed to "bond" with the plastic.
