It's a thing of beauty, and surely a rarity in that condition, but not much good for anything I want to do with a Toyota 4x4.
And yeah, what dropzone said, What happened to the R-151 tranny.?? Kinda important for such a mint truck that so much money is being asked for.
Maybe it originally was an auto tranny truck, eh???

I like always having a project to work on and have a hard times stopping before they are complete. My career is bulit around mostly thinking/talking, so it's nice to work on something with my hands in the garage where you can see immediate fruits of your labor.
Why sell it? Well, my original plan was to SAS it and put it on 37s with dual cases, but it drives so well that we just didn't have the heart to cut into it. When you drive it, you realize just how rare it is. It's like going back in time and it gets "thumbs up's" everywhere it goes.
Hope this helps. With this one done, it's time for a new project .

We have some decent hills where I live and it'll climb the equivalent of a small mountain in 4th gear with the turbo at max power (full yellow turbo bars on the digital dash).

Are you asking about the rebuilt 10K miles ago? It was done by the PO, so I don't have all the detalis. The engine was removed and rebuilt professionally at a pretty big price tag at a shop in TX, so I assume it was built to the correct mechanical specs. It has solid, consistent power throughout the power band.

It is very, very, likely that anyone who is willing to pay near $20,000 for a truck like this will expect it to be factory correct. It is likely, that as a collectors machine, you have reduced its potential value by changing out its auto tranny. Do you intend to include the original tranny as part of the sale??
I think all the aftermarket things you have added, diminish this truck, they do not add to its value.

I appreciate all the replies. On the rebuild, it was done professionally and I believe correctly and am happy to discuss further details with potential buyers.
On wiring, there is 1 wire that isn't factory (for the aftermarket fuel gauge) and 1 that connects to the steering column that one member said was factory but I'm still skeptical. All other wiring is factory.
There are some scratches on the bedrails from taking the hardtop on and off. They are not visible when the hardtop is on. I've never noticed the drivers seat foam (and I drove it on a 11hr road trip comfortably) but agree that it sticks out in the pic. I'll look into it more.
It's also missing 2-3 of the small round plastic interior gray plug clip things. Think the Toyota dealership would have those?
Most poyential buyers are happy about the new Marlin manual tranny with no concerns it isnt the original factory one. Not sure you can beat a Marlin!

I've had the truck for 2-months - clean title in my name. Yes, the transmission was done by the PO. It still needed a lot of work - so I worked on it straight through last weekend finishing it out. New parts came in daily.
It was listed at $12.5k by the PO in unfinished form, barely marketed, and underpriced. The PO was holding multiple offers when I finally tied it up.

Here are the PO's exact words, right before he sold it to you sometime around the first week of April:
"Only have had a couple of people serious and all seem to cap off at the $10,000 mark. So I'll lower the price to that... $10,000. Overall I'm likely loosing money at either price (if I added up every penny spent), so I'll drop the price to try and get this sold."
I also saw nearly every maintenance item and upgrade you listed was already completed by the PO in his listing. I'm also curious about what work you did in 6-7 weeks that increased it's value by no less than $9,900?
I wish my wrenching skills were half as valuable as yours...

Keep working at it - you'll get there someday
In all seriousness, after 3 offers it sold today. I did put a lot of work in it - it had a lot of items not disclosed in TX that needed new parts. And as mentioned it sold undermarket last time and was heavily under-marketed.
Remember, although this is a Tech forum, it isn't 100% about the Tech. Being skilled in foreseeing and unlocking value in something (whether a vehicle, house, or other investment) is as important as actually working on improvements.
