Matt16's 1990 4Runner 22RE/5spd SOLD

SOLD

North Vancouver, BC Canada (just north of Seattle, Wa. for those who are geographically challenged :D )

1990 4Runner 22RE 4 cyl, 5 spd manual

I'm selling my 4Runner as I'm looking to purchase a larger Land Cruiser. This truck has been my pride and joy over the last 3 years. I feel I've kept in excellent working condition and neurotically maintained it. I and completely confident in its reliability and durability and its spent most of its time with me going on fishing trips into the interior and here on the coast. I have no qualms about taking this truck far out of cell phone range alone for several days away from any help should it break down.

Feel free to email me any questions.

SPECS:
frame solid, straight, rust-primed and painted (no bare metal)
engine in very good condition and well maintained by neurotic owner (me)
has gotten 27mpg between Kamloops and Abbotsford, averages 18 city, 24 hwy with a reasonably heavy foot
transmission solid (shifts smooth, no whining, clean gear oil)
40K on clutch
*nothing* leaks on this truck
31x10.5R15 Nokian Vativaa all terrain tires
timing chain done 30K ago, so won't need to be changed for another 70K
full new gasket set installed at this time (head gasket, timing cover, intake, exhaust, water pump)
new front brake calipers installed 10K ago
regular oil changes with Mobile 1 Synthetic, only used Wix or OEM oil filters
upper and lower rad hoses replaced 10 ago as a precaution
belts replaced 30K ago
alternator rebuilt
starter rebuilt
tie rod ends and idler arm bushing replaced- steering system is in good shape
rear window works (relay box and motor replaced)
CV boots and axles in good condition

UPGRADES:
Old Man Emu 900 coil springs
Nitro Charger shock absorbers
1.5" ball joint spacers
1" lift
fog lights
regeared to 4.56 (to match 31" tires and maintain power and fuel economy)
rear Aussie Locker
MT-90 gear oil in tranny (shift very smoothly)
GE Nighthawk headlights
Swaybar quick disconnects for better suspension flex (in conjunction with the BJ spacers and longer shocks, this IFS truck flexes well and rides really nicely- see last picture)
aftermarket CD player installed by PO

NOTE: this truck is equipped with a mechanical differential locker

THE BAD:
a couple dents (passenger frt and rr fender, rear bumper), small dent on roof from loading my boat- did not scratch paint though.

COMES WITH:
carpeted cargo box/ sleeping platform- 2 sections (sleeps up to three people- 2 girls, one guy)
both editions of Toyota factory service manual (bought for $200) and Haynes Manual for 4Runner
receipts for new parts
gas receipts, and MPG tracking spread sheet I use to track gas mileage

SPARES:
idler arm + second bushing
steering stabilizer
passenger side front and rear windows
31" spare tire (BFG all terrain TA/KO)
factory jack and Toyota tool kit
2 spare GE Nighthawk headlights
Swaybar quick disconnects- keep the swaybars on to keep it safe on roads, and disconnect them for trails and rough roads

CARGO BOX
Lots of questions about the box, so here's some info:
Cargo box is 9" deep, so you loose 9" of headroom if you're laying down in the back, but that still leaves lots of room for sleeping etc. The box is in two sections- one fits over the rear seats (when folded flat) and the second section fits in the cargo area. The rear (cargo area) section is held down by turn buckles, the other is held down by being bolted (with wingnuts for easy removal) to the first. Its very secure and a great place to store all my heavy camping/ recovery gear so that it doesn't bounce around/ become airborne and also for safety in a roll-over.

that's a damn good deal.

Matt16 03-13-2010 02:27 AM

watch me chicken out and keep it...

pruney81 03-13-2010 03:43 PM

I wouldn't want to part with that for sure, at least not for that price. I'd be asking at least $5500 I think.

Matt16 03-16-2010 05:45 PM

No way will it get parted... its in better mechanical condition than 95% of 2nd gen 4Runners out here.

pruney81 03-27-2010 01:11 PM

no, I meant I wouldn't want to part with that as in sell it. Wrong figure of speech to use i guess. hahaha....have you sold it yet?
