Interested, but to my knowledge, the front and rear Detroit Truetrac units are NOT interchangeable.

what's the part# of the trutrac? I don't recall them being the same for front/rear diffs.

joshs84 04-06-2008 06:20 PM

if it is for a solid axle it will work for either front or rear

Doesn't matter since it's sold, but I call BS.

Care to explain why two different part numbers, one for the front 8" axle, and one for the rear 8" axle? :bigok:

AxleIke 04-06-2008 06:39 PM

8" is the same.

Why two part numbers and it reads "rear only" and "front only" See link below

Because those are different spline counts. Apologies, I didn't read through enough, and thought we were talking v6 to 4cyl.

You COULD put the rear in the front, but you'd need to upgrade to a 30 spline long field set up.

You still don't' read enough. :nono:

V6, 8", 4cyl., all have the same spline count for the differentials. It's the 7.5" axle that has 27 splines for the differential.

if its for the 8", yes it has front and rear application... but you could flip the internal gears to make it otherwise

NOTE: after posting, I checked the link I gave above won't work. Maybe you could check again after a while.

I stand corrected. Good call.
