22re?
can some one please tell me why or why not I may choose a 22re motor from a 84-88 pickup, as opposed to the 3.0 v-6?
I do not know alot about motors but have seen were some folks on here have suggested a 22re---why thanks anyone:bang: |
the 22re is easier to work on and will last longer than a 3.0

what he said

22r 22re 20r 22rte= bullet proof (as long as you keep the valves adjusted)
3.0=head gasket problems, valve cover gasket problems, burnt valve problems, ect ect 22re all the way!!!!! :saw: |
they're pretty slow though 3.4l swap would be the way to go
|
Go for the 22RE. It doesn't fill up the engine bay like a Vshaped engine. This makes work on it so easy I can do it! I can stand on the frame inside the engine bay and work on it.

I always love these threads... Well, here we go (again):
22R(E) pros: Durable, reliable, easy to work on cons: Slow, weak, tend to get engine knock 3VZE: pros: Reliable, torquey, more power than the alternative cons: Head gasket failures, slow, horrid gas mileage, b*tch to work on Either motor is pretty reliable (I've got 208k on my 3.0, runs like a top). Whichever one you choose, a manual tranny is a MUST |
