Tacoma rims... need help
 

okay... I've got the factory 15x7 alloys on my Surf (2nd Gen, auto hubs). On them, it says "offset 8"... so is that an 8mm offset?
I suppose my main question this. I want to put a set of new Tacoma 16x7 wheels on my truck.

Will they work?
I know the bolt pattern is the same, and the only other info I can find is that they have an offset of "20" and I don't know if that's accurate. If it is, then as I understand it, there's a difference of 12mm to the offset.
Will that be enough of a difference to give me problems?
I want to run 265/75R16 BFG All-Terrain's

are you running any lift?

I assume they would work fine but you never know. Maybe bring a jack and tire iron so see when you're purchasing them. Be sure to check the front since that's where its going to be an issue if there is one. Put one on there and give the steering wheel a few full turns from left to right to see if there's any clearance issues.

currently no lift, but considering a small lift (BJ spacers up front) in the future

no lift, they should fit. when you put the bj spacers on the front tires will rub the UCA without wheel spacers. ask me how i know. :D

Won't a spacer just make it rub the fender?

it might rub a little at full lock and no lift. i ran '04 4runner wheels on my 3rd gen pickup with no lift, 265/70/16 tires and didn't have any rubbing issues. the whole point of the wheel spacer in combination with the tacoma wheels and the bj spacer is to move the tire away from the upper control arm to avoid interference. without the bj spacer installed, the UCA angles toward the ground and allows room for the tire. after the installation of the bjs, the UCA sits more parallel with the ground, thus making contact with the sidewall of the tire.

if you're planning on doing the bj spacer lift, save yourself the time and just get a set of wheels that have a 4" or less backspacing. i believe those tacoma wheels are 4.5-4.75" backspace. or, if you hard set on running that tire/wheel combo, get yourself some 1" wheel spacers for the front. you shouldn't have any trouble wit the 32's rubbing after the bj spacer lift.

okay.. so if I'm understanding everything right, my current wheels have an offset of 8mm, and the Tacoma wheels have an offset of 20mm.
With that, the Tacoma wheels will sit 12mm farther in at the "inboard flange"...
with a 1 inch (25.4mm) wheel spacer, that should push it 13.4mm out from where they sit now... correct?

also, you think I'll run into any issues with fitting the center cap?

correct. basically you want to get to a zero and below offset with those tacoma wheels and a bj spacer install. 20mm offset with a 20mm-25.4mm spacer should give you plenty of room.

i didn't have any issues clearing the manual hubs on my truck after removing the plastic center cap on the wheels.

best thing to do would be search for pictures of someone else running that wheel and tire combo on the forum. i've seen a ton of 3rd gens running newer tacoma/fj cruiser/4runner wheels. you can get away with it without spacers until you lift the vehicle, i believe.

Looks like he just painted the front hubs silver... But overall the look good on there..

how much of a rubbing issue do you think I'd be looking at with these rims and BJ spacers (rubbing the UCA that is)?
