Off-road/Trail tire

SSR's are NOT as weak as some say..and they are good on road. Yeah, compared to SX's anything is weak in the sidewall...but SSR's are as strong as MTR's with better all around off road performance especially in wet conditions and for a DD SXs are not always practical...and MOST vehicles that DD dont need the extreme sidewall strenth the SX/Bogger offers...just my thoughts.

www.tires.com
This place is awesome. They have free shipping on in stock wheels and tires.
285 Nitto--$124
295 Nitto--$135
285 MTR--$178 (buy 4 get $75 mail in rebate)
305 Nitto--$150
They don't list a 305 MTR I will call and see if they do.
Plus they offer replacement certiicates for replacements.
just called them and they have NO 305 MTRs. plenty of 33 1250 15
well???
what to do. go wider and stick with an AT or try the mtr and live with the 285 (not like there is anything wrong w/ it)
looks like these are the cheapest options period.

continue to shop it around...
there's definitely a difference in the 285 and 305. more like comparing a 33" to a 34" PLUS the obvious increase in width.
get that tires.com price and try to get someone local to match it who has or can get the 305's.

Local Goodyear Auto Service Center says the "MTR in a 305 is being discontinued. It is being replaced with SilentArmor"
WTF. This guy works directly for Goodyear. They still make the 285 and other sizes
The silentarmor looks like a glorified Wrangler A/T
I am so mad. Just when I wanted to upgrade to 305s and MTRS
the search continues
maybe nitto muds???($$$$$$$)

33x11.5x16 Nitto Mud Grappler is a little over 33" tall and approx. 12.01" wide. These would work, but the cheapest I have found is $840 delivered, then I will have to play mounting and balancing and I am back to $900
damn damn damn

GY still lists them in their lineup...
305/70-16 is a popular tire w/ the ford F-250/350 and MT/R's sell as fast as they can make them. the salesman might be trying to unload some of his inventory on you or is too lazy to pick up the phone and order a set...
call around. you should still be able to get them. maybe they're on backorder...
personally, i'd rather have a 285/75 in a MT/R than something else in a 305.
Here's some for $212 Each including free shipping...

Make the rims into a beadlock rims run a 38x14.50 TSL/SX...
They are only 36" tall when they are under your vehicle anyways.
You might be disapointed with the performance of MT/R's in slick goopy mud.
My 35x12.50 BFG MT's did better on the trail yesterday than my buddies 37x12.5 MTR's.
I did everything on the first try he had to try 2-3 times with the MT/R's because his tread kept clogging up and they were basically like slicks.

I've recommended them to several friends and on various internet forums. Recently, an acquaintance noted that he has had a very difficult time locating a set.
He stated that he has been told that Goodyear is discontinuing this size of the MT/R. Please tell me that this isn't true! If so, I'm afraid that I will have to take my business somewhere else when these MT/R's wear out because I'm not willing to step down to a 285/75-16 and I can't go up to a 315/75-16.
Any comments or news on the production of this size?

yeah, i'm about to turn 140k, so that isn't a huge deal. i seriously doubt that i'll go to 315 just for breaking CV's w/ the locker. maybe in several years, but no time soon.
i'll let you know if i hear back from GY on that email...

Mr. Pipkin,
Unfortunately, The Wrangler MT/R size LT305/70R16 is no longer
manufactured by Goodyear and all existing inventory has been depleted.
Goodyear would be unaware of any remaining inventory that may exist in
any specific retailers inventory.

If you can fit a 12.5" wide tire that is 33" tall you can easily fit the 315/75/16 tire which is 12.5" wide as well but 34.5" tall. I would consider the 315/75/16 your next best option as the 12.5" width is much harder to fit than the 34.5" tall.
