oddball tall/skinny radial tire sizes
since 3rd gen 4runners like a tall/skinny tire, ive been looking at some like the 255/85r16 and 255/80r17.
however, on here i was reading a guy has some 305/70r17 GY MTR and it took me a minute to realize that it was kinda taller than normal.
(it should have been 305/65r17, because the standard is for every 1" in wheel increase, the tires aspect ratio goes down 5%).
then i started lookind around and i found both GY MTR and Toyo make a 285/75r18 =(34.8x11.2)
also found GY MTR or DURATRAC and BFG A/T also have a 275/70r18 =(33.1x10.8).
does anyone know of any others - 18" or smaller wheels, (i would like 17" better)?
please list brand and model with the size, plus any experience with that brand, model,or size.

The only 255/75/17 that I could find, and that I have knowledge of/experience with, is a Treadwright Guard Dog.

Not sure if that's the type of tire you were looking for though.

I have heard conflicting opinions about running 235's. Some say they ride okay and some say due to the ten ply side wall they are really stiff. If you run them at half pressure (full pressure is 80psi) then they can heat up and feel a little loose on the road. However these tires comes factory on j**ps and some other vehicles.
Some tire shops won't even install them on your 4runner due to insurance reasons because you see reducing your trucks footprint on the road resulting in less traction. I've been wanting to run 235/85/16 on my 99 runner for a while for winter tires but will most likely get them only for a summer set and run 265/75/16 for winter driving in the snow/ice. I'm thinking about the General grabbers AT2

if i could find some skinny 18" wheeels (they all seem to be 9-10" wide)
i think i might get the 275/70r18 Durtracs (tall 33" x just under 11")
