Need Help Choicing A Load Range

Hey yall. I have a 96 4Runner LTD and is in need of some new rubber. I have decided I want the Toyo Open Country A/Ts (look good, good life, and have heard they do good in snow AND priced JUST RIGHT for my budget)

But one thing that got to me: How many Plies do i want? 6? 8? 10?

The guy recomended the 8 for wheeling and that it get better life and that the 6 is a worse off tire. But my coworker side he's wheeld 6 Ply and has not had any problem. Me, all iv ran is P rated, 8 ply and 10ply (yes 10 ply on a 4runner). So i want opinons on what i should get a 6 8 or 10 ply tire.

Opinions are welcome.

thanks

I'm running E (10 ply) and I dont think it rides too rough. They are Probably a little overkill but oh well. They are heavy though and eat up some MPGs I'd say go with a happy medium.... 8 ply

Really depends on your full use of this truck and how fast you travel
most frequently. the thicker the tire the heavier and more durable harder rubber.
lighter tire is for less rugged such as asphault and less weight load.

I say 6-8. 6 for light wheeling and sand, 8 for heavy wheeling and rocks.

10 for constant travel on really rough gravel roads

Ya. It IS AZ here so i do battle heat like no joke 130+ in the summer so i want a tire to last. I am into rocks/gravel and sand and what not. So i gussing the 8 ply would be good. 6 Ply might be too weak. Yet again i have wheeled Revos (which were P rated) i think 8 ply would be best.

If you don't care about ride quality do the 8 plies, The 6 is going to ride the best obviously. I have the BFG 8 plies and don't like them on-road hardly at all. I work at Discount and am going back to a P-metric tire because when I do go wheeling I usually climb hills and don't care much for rock crawling...
