Need Advice in Choosing tires for an '09 tacoma

So my dad has a 2009 Tacoma has reached the point where he needs to get some new tires. I'm pretty decent at knowing what to get when it comes to a more aggressive all terrain or mud tire, but that's not what he wants. He's looking for a really great tire for the road (quiet and good at highway speeds), but something that can occasionally handle decent trails every few months. He doesn't do any offroading per say, but a lot of the roads he uses to go to shooting areas are pretty rough (i.e. left hand canyon, for you Colorado people). He also wants something that will be really great in snow and ice. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I told him that the great yotatech community would be able to help him out.

those falkens have been getting more popular these days and lots of positive feedback regarding price and performance. only complaint i really see is they are not aggressive visually compared to other ATs in the same category. other popular "aggressive ATs" would be cooper st maxx, nitto terra grapplers, gy duratrac, etc.
