Kumho Road Venture MT 834 tires
Anyone have any experience with these? They look pretty nice for the price. They scored higher on tirerack.com reviews than the BFG mud terrains, and are $60 per tire cheaper (plus another $40 off right now if I buy 4), 5 pounds per tire lighter, but 0.3" in diameter smaller (comparing 265/75/16's). I'm a huge fan of Khumo tires for the street and road racing, but don't know anything about them off road.

That is a great price and a very worthy looking tire. I know nothing about them, but they sure look like they would be good.

I would like to know more about these tires from people that have used them. I need new tires for my 2nd gen runner and I think these in a 32x11.50 seem like exactly what I'm looking for. Hope to hear from some people on these tires.
|
Hopefully someone out there has them and will chime in. If not, I'll be the guniea pig and grab a set. I love the Kuhmos on my mustang, but that tire is the exact opposite of this one, heh heh.

That tire worked great on my Porsche too.
I think I'll end up getting these MT tires before winter to replace my BFG AT's. Let me know how you like them when you get them. |
I've been very pleased with mine so far. I've probably only put 4,000 miles on them, but they've been great. See my prior post here:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...ighlight=kumho I'm sure you'll love them too. |
Thanks, they look really good on your truck, world of difference! Any off-road experience with them? How are they on the street?
|
Nothing heavy off-road. I fish a lot (as evidenced by my avatar) so I mostly need it for getting into backwoods areas, but have been very good in that respect so far. As for on-road manners, I had the center tread blocks siped (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siping) and I believe this helps dramatically with road noise as well as wet/snow performance. Good luck!

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...t/DSC00006.jpg This is my dd for now (Looking for a tundra) I've put a little over 10k on these tires now, and you can hardly tell there worn. The ride on road is awesome, never had a problem in the rain or snow. They've seen there fair share of offroad also, they work great esp. if you run at about 10-12lbs. This is the only radial mt I will ever own again. |
I have the 32x11.50 and absolutly love them. they ride nice and arent loud (not that im concerned). i feel they are everybit as good as the other mt's out there. I have had mine for 7k miles and like dwh has said no signs of wear. they clean pretty well in my opinion also. i would definitly recommend them to anyone. Put the white walls on the inside though it looks silly the other way

These sound really nice. I've been gearing up for some new tires in the next month or so and I was set on either BFG AT's or Revo's... and now I'm reconsidering, especially given the price. Mmmmm... MT's  :bounce:

any issues with the 32x11.50? Do you have any suspension mods? I have a 95 runner with Downey HD coils and new shocks all around and this is the tire and size that's at the top of my list right now. Pics of your truck would be awsome. Thanks in advance |

That's where I'm at too. What would we do without the internet. Oh and Yotatech too.

good discussion re these tires. i will need to buy tires in the next 3 or so months and i am now considering this tire as well as yotatech's 2006 trendy tire of the year, the nitto terra grapplers

Tires were the first thing i did to my car. i had those put on my stock 15x7 wheels and they didnt rub at all. how ever my stock bars were maxed out. they do rub now though because my stupid girlfriend bought me some 15x10 steelies. she is going to college though and the old rims are going back on (i painted them black). I dont have any pictures right now but in a couple of days i will and will post them if you wish. hope this helps.

I never had them, but a buddy did on his Frontier. He could not kill these tires even with 95% on road driving, they lasted about 65-70k miles, which is awesome for an MT, they were a little loud towards the end, but nothing to complain about. We only wheeled the truck lightly, but they definately held their own. I plan on going with these guys next, for the price, and looks/function they seem like a good bet.

Well, after long and hard consideration I decided to go with these tires. I had the center blocks siped on all 4 to improve wet/icy grip, as well as make it a little quieter. I was hoping to test them out this Sunday, but my wife informed me that she already had plans for to drive down to Anaheim, so looks like I'll just be cruisin' the 'stang instead. Anyways, here's some before and after picts.
