Cooper S/T or ProComp Xtreme A/T

I need new tires and wanted Toyo M/Ts, but I'm afraid they're gonna be too heavy. I still want an aggressive tire, and like the look of both of these tires, just wondering which tires are better.

i had the s/t's and s/t-c, the s/t had wicked fast tread wear, but the s/t-c was great. cooper warranted the s/t's, and gave me the s/t-c. did great in the mud, and pretty quiet

Not sure what you mean by wicked fast, but my first set of S/T's on the Tundra got 50,000 miles. I'm setting on 20,000 miles with my second set and they've still got over half tread left. I'm really happy with the Coops.

I would not go with the toyo M/Ts these are designed for a fullsize but do allright on the road. Also they only come with 19/32 of tread.

like would have got 12k out of them

I don't quite get your point. It's a truck tire, yes they say it's designed for a fullsize, but that doesn't mean you can only put them on fullsize trucks, and 19/32 is plenty of tread.

I have the cooper S/T's and have about 50% tread at around 20,000 miles...
I WANT them to run out of tread so i can pickup some 32's

Just sell yours for a good price and get your 32's. Plenty of people out there buying used tires these days.

To the OP, thanks for posting. I too have been looking into the ST's for my summer tires. I have yet to make a decision though. However, most who've had the Cooper's have loved them.

X2. Or, keep them for summertime, or something where you don't want to wear out your 32's.

BTW, malteserunner, what part of Ca was your picture taken in? It looks like the foggy northern coast that I'm familiar with.

Why i say that they are designed for afull size is that they don't grip offroad because the tread design is supposed to have alot of weight on em. Also you could get a tire with more than 19/32 of tread on them that is the same price or cheaper.

Idk if i want to sell them just yet.
I want to make the tires last as long as possible.

Oh, you mean the amount of void area(space between the lugs) they have?
As far as more tread, they have 0.59375" of tread, where as lots of tires have .50-.56". Since they are designed for heavy fullsize trucks they should last quite a while on my truck.

Also I have decided against both Cooper S/T and ProComp Xtreme A/T. Reason being, I talked to cooper dealer here, and he said that both of these tires tend to wear rather quickly down here in the hot FL weather, and also the belts tend to fail in the hot weather especially with any abrasion against the tire sidewall.

I've decided to go ahead and get the Toyo M/Ts, I'm no longer worried about the weight of them since I'll have nice new motor pushin them.

Sorry for the long post.

That one was at the 09 Pismo Jamboree, out on the dunes.

Thanks for the info. If that is the case, I'll steer clear of the ST's. I frequently air down, and if the sidewalls aren't going to take the abuse, I wont try them.
