Hello everyone,

I have a 2008 Toyota 4Runner 4.0L V6 4WD Limited Edition with a tire size of P265/60R18. I am looking go with the BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 or Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac and need some help deciding. I have read countless reviews and threads regarding these two tires and it is very hard to find a decent comparison between them from someone who has driven on both tires since the KO2 is so new. Please only respond with feedback if you have driven on BOTH of the tires because I want to compare the two and am not interested in how well one of the tires performs compared to a street/stock tire. I am mainly looking for a comparison between their performance in deep snow, deep mud, wet pavement traction(hydroplaning resistance), and longevity(treadwear - I know this will be hard for the KO2), but I will gladly take any other feedback as well. If you have any feedback on the sidewall strength of the Duratrac and the "hearsay" about them losing most of their traction at half tread, please share. Thank you for your time.

I've always run BFG. They have tough side walls. They are sometimes hard to balance.

Duratrac all the way between the 2. I have read too many so so reviews on the new BFG.

I say bfg ko2s. I have never had problems with them. They last forever and are a great all around tire.

I agree with the old KO2's. love my set with an 05 date stamp One of the main things I hear regarding the new KO2 is they are splashy on the road and not good enough off-road to make up for it. They also have balancing problems from what I have read and most people end up using beads to balance them.

I’ve tried tha old style BFG ATs twice in 9.5 and 12.5. I Offroad and they just don’’t Have the traction I need/want. I watched a Duratrac blow a sidewall on a mild trail. Was behind the truck and saw when it let go; nothing hit tire just blew, was a 3/4 ton extended cab Chevy. Guy had just finished hammering on them. Got another buddy that loved them for short time he ran the Duratracs on an 2nd gen 4rnr. Boils down to what you use rig for but Duratracs look better imo.

KO2's are great, my buddy has them on his FJ Cruiser, and wheels all over the place with them here in the PNW.

I've run the KO & KO2s on every truck I have ever owned, which are mostly old Toyotas and Nissans, with good success. I only ever had one blowout while elk hunting and I was on a steep bank covered in sharp rocks - gave it a little too much juice and got a pinch flat.

I would NOT run the KO2s on a heavy duty truck, my F250 has chewed through a set in about 25k miles, but last I checked it also weighs about 2.25x as much as an old 'Yota. They do have a new "DT" (diesel truck) version of the KO2 out, which is not what I am running. I'm going to look at other tires when these are gone.

I've been using BF Goodrich tires for 25 years and so far nothing has been able to match the tread life or performance and longevity/Durability of the TA's. Great in snow, sand, mud, and stone for my area. Upper Midwest is where I off-road.

I highly recommend Nitto Ridge Grappler tires that I recently bought from 4wheelonline. It performs well both on and off-road.
