Next time.....
Last weekend when we were up at Greenwater we had alot of flies that had a feast eating us up.
Maybe i should pack on of these: http://www.bugbaffler.com/bb/images/couple2.jpg http://www.bugbaffler.com/ Be kinda funny if we got pulled over and had to explain it to the local sheriff:dunno: |
My legs are still itching from last Saturdays bug-fest.
http://www.toyotaoffroad.net/tando/smilies/fly2.gif I think they leave some kind of venon behind to where they bite you because the bites on me are on still on fire. Hey, weatherman says no rain for over the next 7 days, and 80 degrees and slightly below. Gonna be a good weekend again. Time for me to hit REI and get some Jungle Juice and a hat! http://www.toyotaoffroad.net/tando/s.../mosiquito.gif |
It's Your Call
It's your call, Todd. But if were up to me, I'd take the one on the right
Jim |
Yeah, you would look like a weirdo, but you would not itch afterwards. LOL...I would def. take the one on the right! :fireman:

Are we not using OFF! now because it seeps through your skin and screws you up somehow? I still use it when i'm out there and being buggeg by bugs. Just a very light mist on the arms and legs is very effective for me. I also love the fishing style hat i'm wearing in my avitar pic. It keeps the sun off my ears and neck. Taking it off and spraying the outside of it keeps the skeeters away from the face and neck.
We really have it good in CO in the bug department. They are not nearly as prevalant as in most lower altitude areas. This year especially since there is much less standing surface water for skeeter egg laying due to the drought. |
Umm, bug net????Yeah, does anyone esle this that old chic is a hotty?? :D :D
|
Huh?
Yeah, does anyone esle this that old chic is a hotty?? Jim |
  say what???

Ya know, I heard that DEET is a great bug deterant and does not harm you at all. I saw it on the news when Consumer Reports tested it and said it works great! Just a thought though! :fireman:
|
You're Right
You're right about Deet, B-Town. When shopping for bug juice, look for the percentage of Deet that it contains. The more, the better.
Jim |
REI's Jungle Juice is almost 100% DEET.
It works great, but it can destroy nylon. When I use to camp a lot when I had my tent trailer, we'd use a lot of it as up by Mt. Rainier the bugs are bad. But at night you gotta sleep in long johns (summer weight) or the DEET that is on your skin can eat a hole in your sleeping bag. I worry now if I put it on if it will ruin my Wet Okole's since the they also have nylon in them. The stuff does work, but it leaves a semi greasy film on your skin. Jungle Juice, field tested by Corey, and I get bit easy. This stuff really works! http://a1072.g.akamai.net/f/1072/206...ges/407285.jpg While we are on the subject of bugs, I also have this kit. It's good for snake bites (never ever been bit) and for taking out bee stingers, which I have done with it on myself. It works great. Corey |
Yeah, I get bit alot too Corey! I must be a magnet for them damn mosquitos! I hate them! HATE THEM! I will have to try out that Bug Juice. There is an REI near me, well, close, and I will have to give it a try! Thanks! :fireman:

I have one of the bug baffler pull over jackets. They do work great. They get a bit uncomfortable in the warmer, humid summertime because they are nylon and still retain some body heat, but still baffles the bugs. If they made a cotton one, I'd be the first customer.
One of the reasons I really like the BB'r is because at night when I'm out taking care of animals (because I procrastinated during the day...:nerd:) and wearing a headlamp, I can pull the hood over my head and the bugs....swarms of them!...stay out of my face. Nothing like inhaling and choking on a bug!! :barf: Plus, you can still wear a t-shirt and just put some citronella/eucalyptus/oil blend on your legs and stay pretty comfortable temp wise. |
35% to 40% DEET is the max they say you need. The military stuff used to eat nylon and would make you lids numb if it came in contact when applying to the face. The misquetoes would wake me up looking for any spot I missed when applying, BUZZZZZZZ.

go a step further and get bee keeper uniforms
|
I'm pretty sure their bug bites have healed in the 5+ years this thread is old...
|
Ha ha. Still laughing at Stormin94's post two years later. Owned. Totally owned.
|
The off fan works great for all types of bugs get like 6 of them put une on your belt and the rest arund your food tent door and a few around the outer part of you site it usually keeps them all away
