Forage while you wheel!
 

Ok, I live in the Willamette valley in Oregon and and we have loads of edible fungus, ferns, greens and even bugs. When my buddies and I go out with the intention of spending a day or two in the cuts we often take only a small amount of food knowing that we will be making stews and salads off the land.

Aside from damn near every culinary mushroom out there including truffles growing in my neck of the woods we get to eat roasted fern heads, miners lettuce, water cress and a few other green bits I don't recall names of at the moment. we also have for those of us with stronger tummies some pretty tasty little bugs like wood grubs, grass hoppers, snails and ants.

I won't go into the obvious stuff like birds, deer and fish.

I want to know what's edible where y'all live!!

Roadkill. Maybe a neighbors cat or small dog every once in a while.

Brooke Trout, an assortment of berries, mushrooms if you can find the good ones to eat (or some of the more exotic ones if you do that kind of thing lmao:bah:), other than that we got big game

Livin in Washington, don't go anywhere without my gun and a knife, so critters are my choice. In the summer, berries and whatnot. I'm adventurous, but not a moss-eater.

Down here there is a taco stand every 60 feet.........

Next fall/winter i should be moving up around sedro wooley with a buddy. Planning on eating what we can kill, and only buying what we need. Deer, duck, rabbit, squirrel, quail, anything we can find. Except coyotes and crows:barf:

Is it bad that the video showing how to skin and cook them made my mouth water? hehehe

Not foraging(sp?), but the saem concept of eating what the land provides.
