If you haven't gotten the memo yet... California needs to SECURE their toyotas... we've had 3-4 rigs stolen in the sacramento, citrus heights, north highlands area. and 2 in the chico area... seriously start looking into anti-theft. kill switches are not hard to install!

Very sorry to hear about this. I live in the ventura county area and will keep my eyes open for it. Hopefully they ran it out of gas and took off.

My calcs suggest they may have made away for 50-60 miles, give or take. That's not enough to reach the southern border, but it would only take another $10 in the tank to get to Mexico. And I wouldn't be surprised since the last 10 years living here has turned into street carts with jingle bells and trucks blowing "la cucaracha" out of air horns going up and down the streets here.
Pisses me off to no end. Air horns in residential areas are illegal in Cali and most everywhere else, but code enforcement works from 7am to 5pm.

klasjdfoanbga;stnga with the emphasis on the STNGA.

I'm just south of you and have been browsing for used parts as well. If I see the truck or a spree of parts from one source, I'll let you know. Was also up in Big Bear all weekend and only saw one other 4runner, but it was silver.

Hope it turns up.

Sorry Abe, that's terrible. Guy at work had his 85 stolen in the middlee of the workday...in Silicon Valley! Never got it back.

I don't live near you at all but will be thinking positive thoughts - hope you get it back soon.

Sorry to hear Abe, I hate theives. I hope you get it back. It sounds like California is bad for car thefts.

This reminds me of my next door neighbor who walk out to find some meth head trying to hot wire his truck. He calmly pulled out his 45, walked up behind the guy and asked what he was doing. The guy started to come towards him in a "threating" manor, so he gut shot him. It was the last car he ever stole. Lasted 15 days in ICU before he went, I say serves him right.

Good luck.

Thanks for the words, peeps.

I've got fingers crossed but I'm also trying to be realistic. If I get it back, it'll likely be nothing like it was, so I don't have high expectations.
Maybe this is just fate's way of getting my bike back on the road?

I have some suspicion as to who may be involved, but without proof it's little more than suspicion and rumors flying around.

Really? dark_fairytales and [email protected] both had theirs stolen recently. This is getting ridiculous. I guess that's another reason for me to never go to California.

I hate thieves with a burning passion Generally, I hate it when people mess with other peoples property. If you want a Toyota Pickup/4Runner, go out and work for it. Don't just find one you like in someones driveway and take it from them, low-life cowards... If someone ever stole something from me and I found out who it was, I'd steal something from them...their life

Sorry to hear that. Really sucks. Why can't they simply steal someone's Cadillac with full-coverage insurance? Getting full-coverage on our Runners does not really make financial sense because I don't think insurer will cover all we have put into our trucks.
I'm just south of you. We'll help keep an eye out for you.

Yeah, kill switches everywhere (fuel, ignition, starting systems). I have ideas but would not post because thieves are probably watching out for those posts.
I'm also keeping my truck stock and not too pretty, hopefully so as not to attract attention.

In my home country, it's OK to shoot thieves.

It's rediculous. I don't even want to sleep now for fear they'll come back for the '91 pickup. We're pulling the coil wire on it when we're not in it. And it's an automatic so would be a bit more work to get out of the driveway quietly.

Thanks again everyone, esp. those of you keeping your eyes open. I've been checking craigslist for Los Angeles, San Diego and in between but have seen nothing yet. But who knows?

Was hoping to hear you got it back. It is infuriating. They give no thought to what you put into it.
