OM617 Swap Best Transmission Options

I am in the planning stages of a OM617 Swap into my 1993 Pickup. I currently have the 3vze with a 5 speed. My question is this. To maintain enough room to keep the radiator in roughly the stock location do I have to use a W56 transmission from a 22r/re to move the om617 back far enough? I have heard that it is possible to use a 22rte bell housing on the R150 transmission and that will leave enough room to keep the radiator up front. If that is possible, what clutch do you use? The 3vze or 22r/re crutch? Then I guess the last option is to use the R150 transmission and move the whole drivetrain back several inches. I would rather not have to get new driveshafts so the last option would be my last resort.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Noah

Aren't the 3VZE and 22RTE clutches the same? Same R transmission internals, similar output.

Are you sure that it's only the R150's bellhousing that makes it stick further forward? If so, then all you'd need is an R151 bellhousing (from a 22RTE). You may also have to shorten or swap the trans input shaft.

Well I am not sure that it is simply a bell housing issue/solution. That is just something I read and seemed like a relatively simple solution.
