1UZ Swap Into 2nd gen 2WD 4Runner
Hello YotaTech,
I am new here and just picked up my 1994 4Runner SR5 V6 auto of course. The 3VZ-E has rod knock and after all the reading i am strongly considering a 1UZ-FE swap into the truck since I plan to do some towing and just generally have the desire for more power overall.
As with any swap I have a few questions I need answered
1. Motor Mounts? Is there a thread on making them or are they any premade UZ swap mounts? I tried searching with no luck.
2. Wiring harness? diagrams? premade plug and play?
3. Since My Runner is automatic I would like to swap it out to a 5 speed, I can go to a local pull a part and find the parts but what bell housing will I need?? flywheel etc??
I have seen the swap done to countless 4WD trucks and have yet to see it done to a 2WD like mine, So again thanks in advance for any help with this matter

well all the info your in search of lies in this section of the forum... but i will help ya out
okay #1: 90% of us just build them to fit the rig, the other 10% have some one else build them... there very simple to make and can change between everyone else's rigs...
mine are solid for the simple reason of a tight fit.. if you have ever built anything out of metal from a BBQ to a garden tool i think you can fab these mounts...
#2: http://www.phoenixtuning.com you ship them your harness plus 1uz harness and they ship back a converted harness for around 700-800 bucks ... ouch... but from what i hear they do a great job, you get what you pay for....
#3 few places... a local guy around here makes some stuff.. www.supracharged.com
the link to products is on the bottom left side of the page.. prices are very reasonable..
they sell a clutch kit and a bellhousing adapter, reliable? i don't know..
www.a1turbos.co.nz is a place down under that makes a few bellhousing adapters, but shipping i hear is a
killer..
for the last question.. i think most of the guys on here(just my thought) have 4x4 yota's
and i don't see a lot of 2wd runners.
hopefully this will get your mind going in the direction that you want.
there are people on here full of very helpful info and experience, and i am sure they will answer your questions when they get time.
good luck newb. jk.
