Recommendations for Mechanic or Help in Engine Swap - Southern Indiana
I have a 2004 tacoma 3.4 V6 manual transmission 4x4. There is about 90,000 miles on it
I noticed some wobble in my crankshaft pulley so I took it to the dealer to check it out
The local toyota dealer said that my crankshaft is damaged and it go in and replace and fix everything it will be $4600
I did some research and it seems just replacing the engine is going to be around the same price if not cheaper so I was wondering if anyone is from around the Southern Indiana area (I live in Evansville). If you know any mechanic that might be able to do a engine swap for cheaper or if someone on here has experience would be willing to help me do it myself that would be great. You would definitely be payed for your help
I am kind of freaking out by how much this is all going to cost and I just want to see if anyone can help out or has suggestions.
Thanks!

Hey thanks for the welcome.
Sorry I meant to type crankshaft instead of camshaft. It was a pretty bad wobble. Apparently the crankshaft pulley was coming off and damaged the crankshaft.

That's defiantly a strange issue. Hopefully someone will chime in with more information. Get quite a few options before thinking about replacing the entire engine.
