So to do the rear sump swap on a 3.4 do you need to get the pan/pick-up/ dip stick seperate or is there a complete kit? I am putting the 3.4 in a buggy with a 60 up front and it has a the front sump now.

No kits, you just have to order the parts new from Toyota

If you click on their picture, it doesn't show the dipstick guide. But the install instructions do?!

Just Re-read the instuctions. They want you to re-use the stock dipstick/tube, and just overfill the motor. THAT is ridiculous.

I haven't seen this question answered anywhere but what is the reason for redrilling and moving the dipstick when putting on a different pan and pick up. (3.0 4x4 truck pan in 3.4) Is the pickup in the way or just the baffle, or does it hit the pan itself

It hits the pan itself. The front mount dipstick from the 4Runner/Tacoma will not work with the T100 oil pan. The dipstick for the T100 is also longer, as the pan is a different depth. You have to overfill the T100 pan just to make it up to the full mark on the 4Runner dipstick. No good.

really??? over fill the oil so you won't have to do it right? Thats dumb.

Do it right people, relocate the dipstick to its proper location. You won't have to spend extra money every oil change and you're gonna have piece of mind its done right.

Oh and order from Deathcougar

So if I use the pan off my 3.0 when I put the 3.4 into my 89 4x4 IFS (truck) I will use the oil pick up with part number 15104-62070?

That is correct. This will allow you to use the 3.4 Baffle with the 3.0 oil pan without any modification of the baffle when you use that pickup

I'm swapping a 3.4 into a 2wd p/u. I have the 2wd 3.0 v6 pan and pickup, but I'm having a tough time locating the 2wd 3.0 baffle. I went to Toyota and they ordered me p/n 12121-65101 which ended up being the 4x4 baffle. The other p/n listed is the 12121-65021, but I'm not confident that is the correct one. Can anyone confirm? Note the 2wd 4runner uses the same pan as the 4x4, so the baffle must be from a 2wd 3.0 pickup.

I don't show 12121-65101 as even being a valid part number? Perhaps you meant 12121-65010 which is a 4WD Baffle

12121-65021 (superceded from 12121-65020) is an 88-95 3.0 2WD Baffle and THAT is the one you need.

Yes sorry I meant 12121-65010. Sweet, I will order the 12121-65021, thanks for confirming!

Why Couldn't i just use the 3.0 baffle with the 3.0 pan and pickup on my swap it fits perfectly. Anyone see a problem with this.

You could, but that baffle setup is prone to leaking due to the double layer of FIPG you have to use. If you don't mind modifying the 3.4 baffle, I find its best to use the 3.4 Baffle, 3.0 Pan, and 3.0 pickup.

If you want a 100% bolt on install, use the T100 parts as outlined in this thread. I used the T100 Pickup tube with the 3.4 baffle and 3.0 pan (which is how the T100 is set up) rather than cut holes in my baffle. Much cleaner install, no need for cutting metal out.

Good point that pan is a mother to get out once the engine is in there. seems like I would have to cut a good size hole in the 3.4 baffle do to the angle on the 3.0 pickup leg not sure about doing that.

So Here's a part number I though might want to be added to the list. Its for the oil pickup tube gasket and its 15147-62020 had to finally call a dealer to find this number.

I used my original 3.0 oil pan from a 94 4wd 4runner with IFS, 95 2wd Tacoma 3.4 original baffle
Pickup tube- Toyota 15104-62070
Dipstick - Toyota 15301-62060
Dipstick Guide - Toyota 11452-62060
Dipstick Guide O-Ring - 96721-19010
Union - Toyota 90405-10033
My question is how much oil should it hold? Just go by the dipstick?

5.5 quarts or so.

And thanks for the part number, good information to have!

Its seems that if you are using the 3.0 pan, you would want to use the 3.0 pickup, dipstick tube and dipstick. You can use either baffle....just trim out the 3.4 one. That's what I did at least for my IFS setup.
I don't think I ever answered this question.

The T100 Pickup tube you use is from a 4WD, when bolting the 3.4 into a 4WD application. They are not different sumps, since the 95+ T100 3.4 and 88-95 3.0 use the exact same pan. The difference is in the Pickup tube, and the baffle.

I have also done many more of these swaps, and found it is much easier to cut a hole in the 3.4 baffle and use the 3.0 4WD pickup tube, instead of paying the $75 for the T100 pickup tube which is routed around the baffle instead of through it.
