i looks so weird... like, almost stock, but not quite right. like it's not my truck. (but i know it is, i've put my blood and sweat into it)
i picked up the rad hose yesterday, but the weather has been less than crappy.
for the electrical, i'll be moving the battery to the bed and making a new bus bar setup up front. i already scored some cheap 2/0 cable, and can re-use the old bars in a different configuration. something that's easier to work on, and looks more professional

being used to something doesn't mean i have to like it. i'm used to paying taxes. i'm used to bad traffic. i'm used to not having a nice, clean, well-lit, open garage:

this past weekend i sold the boat, so that's more money into the motorhome-bus fund
also worked on the celica a bit. new led dome lights... oooh!
aaaand as for the engine swap: i tried putting the lower radiator hose on, but it was about two inches off... two inches... just like the two-inch body lift i put on... oh. 5 minutes later, the radiator brackets put the radiator where it should be. both upper and lower radiator hoses are installed.
the water lines, trans, electronics, belts, vacuum, and most of the intake are all done. driveshafts, crossmember, interior, and power wiring are still left. time to get on it!

this weekend i'll be working on the truck, hopefully a bunch. i have a welder, scrap steel, good weather, a few parts, and only one interruption (a movie).
left to do:
- exhaust
- driveshafts
- electric (battery, starter, alt, etc)
- dash
- interior
- shifters
also, i picked up a free gen-1 kindle with a bad screen. i'm going to replace the screen ($10 part) and see about using that as my dash, after i install android os.

Haha, just kidding man, I should put up a build thread of my own to show my non-progress.

using the kindle specifically wasn't my initial idea. since i got it for dirt cheap, i'll try using it. if it doesn't work, i'll splurge on a cheap android tablet (original plan). the new screen comes tonight, so i'll try some stuff out.
also, i realized that the kindle doesn't have bluetooth. i might just get the android table instead, because the wifi obd-2 scanner is more than a tablet. hmm...

Of course these are all just words until I show it installed. Until then, check out this clean install with many bells and whistles to perk your interest:
Oh, and the Nexus 7 2013 fits perfectly in a double din enclosure.

Ian,
What software are you using to monitor the engine diagnostics? What can the software do? I'm looking at getting the Techstream and dongle for my install.

i bought an android tablet (less than $50) on ebay. since i'm only using it as a dashboard, the only real software i'll be using is torque (i went ahead and paid $5 for pro) along with a few other diagnostic programs.
i have a obdlink bluetooth scanner, which is a heckuva lot faster than the $4 "elm327" -type scanners. the software for the scanner (published by obdlink) is pretty nice, as it shows all pid's, trouble codes, and allows for code-reset.

Good to know.
I've read that the Torque app is just for monitoring, which is why I downloaded the Techstream software. Ordering a 25$ MVCI OBD2 cable from amazon so I can talk to the ECU and reflash if necessary. The 2010 Hilux has updated immobilizer and injector diagnostics. If I need to replace sensors or injectors the ECU needs to be prompted to register the new injectors for calibration, otherwise...no worky.
thanks
