3.4 clutch and bell house questions. Identifying.

Ok so I have a 94 with the 3.4 , which I bought this way. The throw out that was in it overheated/melted. Also when it did work and it worked well I always had a whinnying almost like a bad pulley then when I smelt the melting rubber and didn't have a clutch I knew it was time. So I decided to do new flywheel clutch....bought all 3.4 fly wheel clutch and both 3.0 and 3.4 throw outs. Not sure which one it has in it. And I am not sure how to tell which bell house it have. So I pulled it all apart and the throw out was melted and in a thousand pc so I couldn't really tell if it was the shorter 3.0 or the taller 3.4. So in stalled the 3.0 and now I have no clutch. I can only start it up when I disconnect the rear drive line. Also the whinnying went away. Sounds brand when when idling just need to get it to go . Do I need to switch them or is it an adjustment. Pleas help
update. So it wouldn't shift into gear so I put a spacer(nut) between the fork and the slave ram and it all works like a dream. But I am confused why?? How do I fix it right?

What side is the slave cylinder on? If its the driver's side, you have a 3.4 bellhousing; or if it's on the passenger side, its a 3.0 bellhousing.

It is on the passanger side. My buddy has a fully stock 3.0 truck. And my trans and bell house match his to a T. So I know I have a 3.0 trans with the 3.4 motor, but I can't figure out why I don't have enough clutch. I looked at the flywheels from both the 3.4 and the 3.0. The 3.4 is thicker (which I have) so I would think it would eat up more of the space I am missing.

Well, I don't know. I assume you have a 3.4 flywheel, 3.4 clutch disk, and 3.4 pressure plate correct? (The pilot bearing is the same between 3.0 and 3.4, as well as a bunch of other engines, so that's a moot point.) The main point being that you didn't mix and match 3.0 and 3.4 parts for the flywheel, clutch disk, and pressure plate.

That's what I don't get. I had a guy at LC tell me to run ALL 3.0 stuff. But everyone on the forums say 3.4 everything and a 3.0 throw out.

Silly question, Did you get the shift fork seated properly on the throw out bearing? Also you should be able tell the difference between the 3.0 and 3.4 by the flywheel bolts if you pull one out. Don't quote me but I think the 3.0 had longer bolts than the 3.4 but it could be the other way round, assuming the correct bolts were used during the install.
