Whistling, ABS light on, stereo cutting out, engine cutting out, HELP!
Guys WTH is wrong with my truck? There's a high pitched whine/whistle that increases with the RPM's; the cd player randomly cuts out every couple minutes; and the engine cut out for about 1 second; AND the Rear ABS light came on a couple times too.
I have absolutely no idea what is going on, and if anyone has any ideas, I'd REALLY appreciate it. Thanks!

Is the whine coming from inside? A poorly grounded cd player will sometimes get let off horrible engine interference out of the speakers which will change with RPMs. Sometimes a short in one place will cause funny things to happen. I would try disconnecting the CD player first.

That's a really good thought, jeff...I'll try that. How can I tell if it's not grounded properly? BTW, your Runner is probably my favorite one on here Your roof rack and front bar are so sick...

Thanks,
Is it a stock stereo or aftermarket? Usually if it is not grounded properly it will let out a whineing noise, but it should only effect the stereo, unless the ground for your stereo is slightly shorting on something else. I don't know if a corroded negative battery terminal will have the same effect, but it may be worth taking a look at. Electrical problems are always fun

It's an aftermarket one... My battery terminals look ok, and I would assume any corrosion would be visible? Oh yeah, they're great especially with me being SO great with any wiring type stuff...oh wait, I suck at that stuff

You may want to consider checking the wiring on your cd player since it could have been installed poorly. Hopefully somebody else will chime in with an idea.

FIXED! Turns out it was the wire that goes from the POS battery terminal to the 80A alternator fuse. Guess it's a common problem in 2nd gens, so I followed ROMAD's write up and replaced it with 6ga wire that I soldered on the fuse side. Works perfect! Thanks for all your help!
