Quick question...
Ok, this may be dumb, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
I bought a can of "Engine Restore" and throttle body cleaner today. The Engine Restore's directions say "Pour entire contents of can into oil without delay." Does this mean I pour it in now or wait untill my next oil change and add it with the new oil? |
the wording is wierd....i think it means pour the entire thing into the crankcase as quick as you can, w/o spilling it of course.....
you putting it into your 99?...does it need it? I wouldnt use it unless I was burning alot of oil, that stuff is nnaasssttyy....its like honey...hehe... |
Well, I've been getting crappy gas mileage lately (14.2 mpg) and figured I'd try a few things. Granted, I dont drive like an old lady, but I'm not crazy with the thing.
Got a K&N drop-in filter but that didnt seem to help at all. Read about the Seafoam and looked for it, but Pep Boys didnt have it so I got the "Engine Restore" instead. Same idea I'm guessing. My truck has 77,000 on it so I think it's worth a shot, anything to help my poor mileage :( But yeah you're right, the wording is wierd. One product said to use it in the place of 1 quart of oil, but the can I got doesn't say whether to do that or just pour it right in. Anyone else have an idea? :dunno: |
dont use engine restore.... its great for older abused engines, but isnt going to do a darn bit to help your baby engine.... look more towards a tuneup, replacement of plugs/wires/02 sensors, things like that..... get seafoam.....
|
Yeah my baby still purrs like a kitten. But she sure loves the gas for some reason. I had the plugs changed when I bought it 12,000 miles ago. I guess I'll put the Engine Restore away for later use, say in 10 years or so :hillbill:
So where can I find this Seafoam? Autozone perhaps? Napa? Pep Boys didnt have it. |
Napa auto parts for Seafoam...

If you are going to put anything in your oil and want to restore compression and clean sudge, use autorx, its been proven time and time again over at the oilguy site.
