What vehicle and engine?

I'm guessing the "other one" is the brake light? You didn't get any of that WD40 in the alternator did you? Also check the connections on the battery and alternator making sure they're clean dry and tight.

Soaking of WD40?? Forgive my ignorance, but whats the reason to do this? Planning to dismantle the engine? That's a new one on me.:dunno:

WD40 stands for "Water Displacement perfected on the 40th try", it was designed to get water out of things.

[voice=gomerpyles]Well golllly Sergeant! I had no idear![/voice]

I only thought WD40 was used to loosen up rusty or stubborn parts (and to take off sticker residue).

I guess the water got displaced to the wrong place?

Or he got it all over the internals of the alternator which would (temporarily at least) kill it.

Well, it turned out that I fried the alternater. Put a new on in, and all is o.k.

thanks:pat:
