do you guys change front and back brake pads at the same time or are the back ones not necessary?? does anyone have any recommendation for pads?? also..is there a write up, because this is my first brake job! =D

The rears don't wear out nearly as fast as the front. I think I still have the original rear liners at 160k miles. Not sure though. So, no, I change the front and rear independantly. Just measure the thickness and compare it to what the manual says.

I think I've seen writeups for that, but I don't remember where. did you check in the yotatech writeups? The fronts are pretty easy, not sure about the rears.

Is the 03 Runner the first 4Runner with 4 wheel discs? My 2G has front discs/rear drums. Most of the energy is absorbed by the front brakes.

That's why these kids new to sport bikes wrap themselves around poles, they don't think they should use as much front brake as they need to, they use more rear, skid and buy it. I've seen it many times - friends of friends...

It is pretty simple. Just remember to apply equal specified torque on the lugnuts. It's highly recommended to get a torque wrench as it's a valuable tool in the long run.

If you put too much braking on the front on a bike, you also end up eating it. But the stoppie will get you cool points for a bonehead move.

I am almost at 130k and I have not change my rear brake shoes. I have replaced the front pads recently. So to answer you question, no I don't change them at the same time.
