60K maintenance Question
Hey all,
I was wanting to know if the $400 price tag on the 60K maintenance is a rip or fully justifiable? The guy that I called at the dealership rambled off about a dozen or so things that would be done to my runner, and seeing that I’m at work I don’t have time to be at all thorough. Has anyone else had this done and if so do you now deem it worthless or well worth it? Could you have done it yourself? Any information is welcomed. Thanks, Outkast` :dunno: |
I'm assuming you mean for a 3rd gen right? If so I had mine done last summer. The only thing I could not do was change the timing belt. So I had them change the timing belt, put all new drrive belts on, and flush the coolant system with Toyota antifreeze. Total cost was around $260.
I changed: 1) All other fluids- tranny, differentials, and T-case 2) New plugs 3) Cleaned throttle body 4) Flushed brake system I should have greased the drive shafts, but didn't. |
Their was a thread in the 4Runner section titled 60k Tune up, why they did not move that but moved yours is unknown.
I asked my dealer about the 60k service and he told me $470 What have you done up to 60k, they don't need to perform everything listed, this is what I got from my Toyota dealer as to the services they perform, not all my apply to you, read through it and tell them what and what not to do, I copied it out of a booklet so it applies to all Toyota vehicles. 60k Maintenance Schedule Replace engine oil Replace oil filter (genuine Toyota filter) Lubricate suspension Lubricate all hood & door hinges and latches Check and replenish fluids Inspect vehicle for leaks Perform automatic transmission service (drain and refill) Adjust brakes and handbrake to factory specs Inspect brake linings for wear Adjust belts to correct tension & check wear Rotate tires (where applicable) Examine exhaust system for leaks and security Check front and rear suspension and steering components Test electrical system Service battery (fill to level, clean corrosion, coat terminals) Install BG Service Kit Reset tire pressure (including spare) examine for wear Inspect all hoses and clamps Replace air filter Inspect throttle body for combustible residue and clean Test distributor, ignition wires and coil Replace spark plugs if applicable (non iridium) Drain coolant and replace for proper protection level and condition Road test vehicle by Factory Trained Technician Free one day rental Hand car wash Recommended: 4 wheel alignment Recommended: Timing belt replacement Recommended: Throttle Plate Service Recommended: Fuel Induction Service Recommended: Transmission Flush Service Recommended: Cooling System Flush Service Here is the 60K Tune up Thread https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...60k+Maintaince |
