60k maintenance...
I just bought a 1999 Ltd. 4x4 Runner w/just over 60k.
I asked the dealer if the timing belt had been replaced... he said no. I worked the 60k maintenance into the deal. What all should I make sure that they are replacing, besides the timing belt??? Thanx, Vince nr4wd@hotmail.com |
at 60K you should have them do the drive belts (since they are taking the old belts off anyway)
Flush the tranny (not a drain and refill) Flush or D&R the coolant Change front and rear diff and transfer case fluids. That's all that comes to mind right now.. Anyone want to add onto my list? |
air pressure and nothinng else cause it's a toyota:cool:
I atill have the factory belts with 130k somethings to consider: Alignment Battery/Altinator (Autozone will do free of charge) CV boot condition Tire wear Change Air Filter Differential fluids (check for water) Rotors Brake Pads Brake Shoes Parking Brake Power Steering Fluid Brake Fluid Level Coolent/Radiator Fluid Change Oil Rear Axle Seals (look for gear oil in brake drum) Check 4hi, 4lo, 2wd and the Locker (spin tires in wet grass or mud) Steering Rack/Tierods (jack front up and see if there is any play) Another good idea is to pull the carpet up in the floorboard to see if the vehicle is a "flood vehicle" or if any rust/water damage has occured. Like I said before, It's a yota so I'm sure evrything is fine:bounce: |
better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick...
I'm not a hillbilly, I'm an Appalachian American. FYI: Technically West Va is the only state totally in Appalachia, thus making you a hillbilly. A hillbilly is someone who lives in appalachia, just like a southerner is from the South and a yankie is from the North (Florida counts). Hillbilly is an endearing term that Hollywood in the 40s, 50s and 60s exploited to make the rest of the country feel better about itself and it's poor economic situations. The true Hillbilly is a person who values family, morals, his land and self respect. He is the true american and embodies the quality of life that everyone else is envious of. I studied the appalachia area and the way Hollywood changed the image of the "Hillbilly" in College |
Link to maintenance items (bottom of the page).
Everything on the list. From 3k items to 60k items. All of it. :) |
There should be a complete checklist in the owner's manual which should be in the glove box. If it isn't, get one thrown in on the deal.
