2 problems, 1999 runner
 

1) the odd time when i get into my truck my clock does not work. but the second i press any of the buttons to set the time it come right back on.

2) when i first get into my truck the first couple of time i hit the brakes this makes a "cluncking" noise. i took to a shop and they said my brakes look good. lots of meat on the drums and my front pads could be replaced in about 4 months. any ideas...i hate it when my truck is not running perfect.

Can you describe the clunking noise in greater detail? Tell us more about when it happens...what speed, how hard you hit them, etc.

Any recent brake work? Are you the original owner?

i have had the truck for 2 years. second owner. personaly i have had no work done. ok when i put my truck into recverse touch the brake normaly it makes a small clucking noice. put her in drive it the first stop sign or when ever i have to hit the brake, no matter how fast or slow i'am going. or how hard or soft i hit the pedle it will make the same noice.. after pressing the brake peddle about 3 times not matter how hard i try it will not make the noice again unless i park it for a while......weird!!!!

Try to duplicate it, only do it in neutral as you roll to a stop. Let us know if the clunk is still there.

Same clunking I was experiencing.

I just took out the ABS plugs and cleaned them really well with CRC electrical connector cleaner and so far so good.

check your suspension links and shocks. There's a possibility one of them is loose or broken.

I have experienced this problem as well in both my 99' and 97'. I just assumed it was normal and happens until the brakes set after sitting in park for so long.

Could also be the driveshaft that needs to be greased......often makes a big "clunk" when braking if not lubed.

I have the same clock issue. I just tap the dash around it and it comes on.
I am just waiting for it to die.

well sounds good as long as it's nothing serious....
