As far as carb or fuel injection would depend on preference either will run the engine. If you will be driving it a lot I would go with fuel injection. If you go with fuel injection you will need all the efi out of the donor vehicle. Here is a 1uzfe build that will give you an idea.

Why not a 4.3 vortec? there cheap , get good h.p. , can be found easy enough have good after market support and from what I have learned are fairly easy to swap

i'd look at the 4.3 over a 350. also, consider a toyota v8, like the 1uz, only thing is that a bellhousing for your 5speed will own your wallet...

Another thing to consider, is where do you live and what are the restrictions on smog?

If your runnign a 22r now i would look into a 22re and gearing, or if you really want to SWAP motors i might go with the 3rz.

What did you go with? I have an 80 and am looking at the Vortec as well but not sure if I should stick with the Toyota engine. My buddies dad did the Vortec and loves it.
