SBC 283 to 1st GEN 4Runner? Anyone done it?
 

So I've got an '86 4runner thats manual. My 22re has gone Kaput on me, an I'm trying to get her running again as quick as I can. My brother has a 283 SBC from his old NOVA that he would be willing to part with for free cause he has nothing to stick it in. I'm looking to get this done on the cheap, so as you can Imagine free is good. I'm also considering the 7mgte swap, but if I can use the 283 and only spend a few hundred on the Swap that would be great. Mostly I'm just wondering if any of you have done this or seen it done, and if so what advice you might have.

I recently did a 4.3 in a 1994 x-cab. The fit on this was tight. If you do a swap with a v-8 sbc, you will have to use pusher style fan and cut the radiator support out and make a custom 1. Exhaust will be an issue also. Probably need custom headers. All the electronics should work fine. Good luck!
