new 3.0
Alright this is my first real thread on here so here goes. Okay a few months ago i was out wheeling and my truck died in the middle of a crossing. Got it out and dried and it would'nt start so i went and got a new cap and rotor. She started right up but had a baaad knock. Long story short i ended up with a new 3.0 long block to drop in.

Got the parts from the old motor swapped over with some new paint

Got her in with minimal hassle

sorry bout the crappy pic
Anyway, well my step dad wanted to get the oil flowing to make sure its being circulated so we hooked up the starter just so we could turn it over a few times. Well my battery was barely charged enough just to turn the engine, not enough to get oil flowing though. when i turned the key a wire from the drivers side of the block started burning its casing. As far as i can tell its a ground wire. It's bloted to the block and goes to the ignition coil, heres a pic..

We checked it out and it looks fine still, can't tell why it heated up though. We charged the battery up to try again and now it wont turn over at all. I also have lost power to my front end. my lights wont even turn on, all i get is a rapid clicking sound from in the drivers side of the dash, and from the under-the-hood fuse block.
so this is where im stuck haha, any help would be much appreciated, i want to get her back on the road

Check the fusible links/fuses in the engine compartment fuse panel. Should have power in and out of them. You might have to unbolt the fuse block from the fender to get at the wires underneath to test, or you might even see a burnt fuse in there.
Double check the wiring to your starter. It probably got pinched or somethng and is grounded out. Don't try to start anything again until you figured out why the negative cable burnt up, or it will happen again.
