Engine swap> Nissan TDI RD28T in ,3VZE out! 1990 4runner

Has somen swaped a inline 6cyl engine into 1990 Hilux/4runner ?
Will it fit?
I can have a inline 6cyl nissan patrol 2.8 TDI engine for good price.
I think it is a good engineswap to get rid of the thursty v6.

I had a 5M-ge in a 86 Hilux, I had to modify the rad support for the rad, but it looked factory after I was done. Your 4Runner has a little bigger engine compartment than my truck, it shouldn't be a problem. Just do a search on google for 7m-ge swap in 4Runner, you will find quite a few who have done it.

You'll have to measure the engine you have to see if it'll fit and what mods will need to be done to get it to mount. I fit an inline 6 into my '88 4runner, but that wasn't a Nissan diesel like you're talking about.

How long is the diesel from the front of the fan to the front of the bellhousing? I'll measure the 5M and see what you are up against.

Engine
bellhousing -> front of the timebelt cover 70 cm / 27.6 in
bellhousing -> front of the Engine Dampers / Pulleys 75 cm / 29.5 in
bellhousing -> front of the fan 82 cm / 32.3 in

Truck
Firewall -> "Radiator support " 84 cm / 33.1 in

I think i need to delete the stock fan and add one or two electronic fans in front of the radiator to push air throo..

If i do that i get 9.1 cm / 3.6 in to play with..
And some HP as the stock fan steals some..

So when it was supposed to test drive the first time there was no question that the motor was fried
When the motor was opend Spuned rod bearings and main bearings faced me.
Went and got a solid motor tonight that goes in this weekend.
It takes no time as Its ready for a new motor.

i am impressed. i dig the swap, wish toyota made an inline 6 diesel that was available in the states.

i only dont dig a few things about this truck but i also understand that its not mine and everyone else has their own likes haha. the tires, a lil over kill for me, but im not in iceland either so i could see applications for them. the only other thing im not huge on (which is ok cuz i love nissans too) is a nissan motor in a yota lol.

like i said tho, thats small beans, cuz its a bad ass motor looks like.

good job man!
