22rtec rebuild cant get the crankshaft nut loose Help!!!
i cannot get the main nut loose on the crankshaft to give im turing left . Is it possible that this is a left handed thread?
|
nope. its a normal thread. Is the motor out of the truck? See if one of the parts stores has a large chain wrench you can borrow. Get a buddy to hold that while you put a long pipe on the end of a breaker bar. Either that or get a stronger impact gun. lol

If the engine is still in the vehicle you can put a long breaker bar (make sure its wedged against something solid) on it and turn over the starter.

engine is out of the truck. pistons are out of the cylinders but crankshaft caps are on sill. I have heard of using the chain wrench havent tried it though. I have cracked a impact socket brocke two ratchets and several other sockets on it . i had my impact up to 120 psi but no luck thanks so much i'll try the chain wrench next. ps im having the same issue with the fly wheel bolts all but one that i was succesful with.

Just did this to my 22rtec also. I got the flywheel and threaded the flywheel bolts half way back in. I put a long pry bar through a couple of the bolts and used a 1/2 inch drive ratchet with breaker bar on the pulley bolt. popped it right off.
