Question: Tundra Brakes on a SAS with IFS outers?

SO I am in the researching phase of a SAS swap for my DD 1990 Pickup. I have become interested in using IFS outers on my SA to gain width so that I can fore-go spacers. So in reading up I have stumbled across someone who used a set of S13WE Tundra rotors and calipers along with the FROR caliper brackets to mount the Tundy brakes on a early Toyota Axle with IFS outers, but have not been able to find much else.

Has anyone tried this. The Tundra rotors are 12.5" in Dia vs 10" for the IFS rotors that one would normally use on the SA rebuild and are almost a 1/4" thicker so the possible increase in braking power is significant. I am running 16" split spoke wheels from a Tacoma but I know 17" wheels were at least an option on the year Tundras that these calipers were from, so I am curious if there are any clearance issues with a rotor and caliper that large. I know that the 93-97 FZJ80 front rotors are 12.26" in dia and use 16" wheels standard.

Just looking for any information that I could gather would be great. I know that the 13WL is a popular swap with the 95.5-02 crowd but I am having trouble finding much on this swap on an IFS equipped SA Rig.

Thanks in advance.

Tucker

Cool. I didn't know Tundra brakes could be put on a SA.

As for wheels, you would have to run 1/4" spacers or grind the calipers a little to run those split spokes. The swept 5 spoke 16" wheels from the tacos and tundra are pretty easy to come by though. The solid 5 spoke "star" wheels from 99? and up 4runners work fine too. Or run tundra 16" or fj 17" steelies. That way, if you run manual hubs, they won't look as goofy as the alloys do without the center caps.
