Not webster, Mosquito Pass. But we can change to webster if you want. I'm going to check on the name of the gas station. Details coming soon.

Awesome, I've been wanting to do that trail for a while! Is the gas station the one on the left at the traffic light where the 285 forks? If It's that one I believe its a Shell. Not 100% sure though.

Fairplay is like a 6 hour drive for me. How long is mosquito pass? The only way for me to make the journey would be to leave friday after work and get a hotel somewhere nearby. Does anybody have any recommendations?
What happens if I run late? Is there a grace period? How long after 10 will you leave?

I'm not sure if this trail in is the same area, but the 14rs (Lincoln, Democrat, and Bross) are all closed as of July 1, 2005.

ATTENTION! THIS ROUTE IS CLOSED!

Mounts Lincoln, Democrat and Bross were pronounced closed and off limits to climbing as of July 1, 2005, by owners of mining claims that blanket all three mountains. Until this matter is resolved, this route should not be attempted. To do so may result in an assessed fine or tresspassing charges.

Bross is a side trip off of Mosquito. the closure does Not effect Mosquito.

Let's not forget the mother of all M&G's at the end of Aug, CO4RJ !!

Fun to be had for all, from mild to wild. If you can't make the entire weekend, feel free to come down for the day

I hope you have 2 couches, I'll be bringing my new wife (getting married the 23rd) with me. If you don't have room, we can get a hotel room.

We don't know the denver area very well. Could you meet us somewhere friday night(29th)? Perhaps somewhere right off of I-25? Someplace not too far out fo your way? We don't want to get lost.lol

Whew! This thread is really growing.

Is Mosquito an easy trail? Do y'all usually take your kids? I wanna go, but I'll have my kids that day, they're 4 and 9 years old. Would it be safe to take them along?

Mosquito, from what I understand, can be done with a stock vehicle.
I don't see any reason to not bring the kids.

Okay, I just got the day off for the 30th.

Hey Ric, how far is Mosquito Pass from our area? Yahoo maps has Alma, CO about 100 miles from my house (I'm near 136th & Holly). Is this right?

If so, I'll need some directions to Mosquito Pass since I'm fairly new to Colorado.

Okay, sorry for the delay

First off. This trail has been done by my truck MANY MANY Times. I have since modded the truck a fair bit. Before i owned it, it was my dad's. It had two open diffs, add aleafs on the rear springs (meaning ZERO flex, and very small tires. YES IT CAN BE DONE BY A STOCK VEHICLE! So no worries. You can easily bring your kids, IMO it is a very safe road. However, if you aren't comfortable with a narrow somewhat steep trail, you may wish to reconsider. You're kids will have a blast, if you wish to come

I can't find out what type of gas station it is, but it is very easy to find. THere is an intersection on 285 with highway 9. This is the highway that leads to hoosier pass and Breckenridge. There is a gas station on the east side of the highway (opposite the mountains. If you are coming from Denver, it's on the left. Coming from the Buena Vista direction (CO Springs people) it will be on the right. It is like 100 yards from the intersection. YOu can't miss it.

We will be meeting at 10 am.

The trail is not long, and does drop into leadville. If you wish to continue on back over, then fine, but if the trail was too difficult, then you can return via highway. Sorry for the early time, but this should have us adequately prepared for any problems that may occur.

Should be a great time, so can't wait to see you all!

Ric, sounds like a plan. If you shoot out to I25 from 104th, we can meet at the Shell Gas station that's right before the on-ramp (I think it's across Gunther Toody's). Don't know what time, we'll work out details next week or so. I'll send you my phone number so we can chat then.

Should we try and get this moved to trail planning? It's not very obvious here in Off Topic
