AZ Snow Run- maybe???

OK, Here's the deal-

This will be done on short notice- whenever we get it, I'll post up for a day trip. My favorite area is near William's, AZ. on FS 354 (Sand Flat Rd. off Perkinsville Rd. on the Prescott Nat. Forest Map) in the Kiabab Nat. Forest. We can meet in Chino Valley, AZ. and head out from there via dirt roads that lead up to the top of the rim. The snow can get deep pretty quick on top- last year we went thru 22" on the flat, 28" to 30" on north facing slopes. The requirements below will give ya some time to get prepared!

If there is more interest in a family type put-put run, that can be done too. The trail above is definately a 4x4 snow trip...

Deep Snow (over a foot) 4x4 Vehical Requirements:

1. Dual lockers and new or near new M/T, MT/R or AT tires.

2. A rear locker w/ new or near new M/T, MT/R or Swamper's, rear chains optional (not a bad idea tho)

3. A rear locker w/ new or near new AT tires and a set of chains will be required. Most of our snow is wet and heavy stuff, the A/T's just don't clean out very well.

4. If unlocked, new or near new tires and front and rear chains.

5. A shovel...

6. Tow Strap and tow hook.

Light Snow 4x4 Vehical Requirements:

1. New or near new tires, M/T, MT/R or AT's are fine.

2 Chains are recommended as an option for unlocked rigs.

3. A shovel...

4. Tow Strap and tow hook.

That's it- it's just a waiting game now!

Hey Mark

That sounds good. I love snow! Now just the wait for old man winter to let out a wet fridged sneeze.

Greg

P.S. I will bring a shovel

I was just up in Williams two weekends ago and they had eight inches of snow. Plain and fluffy snow is not bad. Wait until it melts then begin to worry.

I did not have my truck with me so I do not how it handles in snow but we had my dad's and we had a tough time getting severly stuck several times. In fact, he broke his hubs at one point. Forget about it after that.

I am opened on both ends with ATs.

IT'S SNOWING- HARD!

The Bad news:

It's Monday  :pat:

So here I am, stuck at work...

The good news:

This should provide a good base of snow at the higher elevations. Hopefully we'll get some more closer to a weekend...

I just got back from Bear Lake near Woods Canyon Lake, north of Payson and we had about 8" there.

It has been snowing since Saturday night and was snowing hard when I headed back home this afternoon.

Nice and easy snow cruising.

What's a good source for chains? It's likely gonna be a while before I'm locked.
