4ROC'king the world!

Some of us got together tonight and blithered some more about the idea of creating a global parent organization for 4ROC at this same time as the state (or province) chapters were being organized.

It seemed to us that certain functions of the organization were best achieved at a higher level, for instance pursuing discount programs and the like. Also, we have several highly motivated people who are located in areas that do not have adequate interest to create a local chapter at this time.

So we would like to push the global organization again, rather than wait for the trial period to end in several months.

We had several people volunteer to push this, and to contribute time, effort, and thought to the process. Among them were David (Mad Chemist), Tom (Mertztr), Scott (Scottiac), and David (Mack4Runner). We also volunteered Cebby for a bunch of stuff, since he showed up later. We'll tell him later what he agreed to before he arrived...

Assuming there isn't a lot of objection to this notion, we'll push forward with this, identify the necessary tasks, and get on with it. Obviously we'd like more volunteers to help with this, especially when we get an idea of the work needed. (And since we roped in the Mad Chemist, we figure we've already taken out most of the opposition! ;) )

We will probably elect interim officers from the pool of eager and willing volunteers who make themselves known in the next few days. The intent is to get the organization shaking itself together over the next few months, with a full-fledged existence defined in the 3-6 month time frame.

We will start with the charter prepared by David (MC) for the global guideline, with a little fine tuning. There will probably be a slightly different officer set, for instance, to handle some of the coordination efforts and the like.

We agreed to schedule a chat on the 4ROC line next week to work on this some more. Exact time and date to be determined.

Well, this is long enough for now. Wish us luck, and volunteer to help if you can!

I am in favor of this idea. Being in the Military stationed overseas it would be hard to join a local chapter and once I move to another location that may or may not have a chapter I would be "covered" so to speak. Just my humble $.02
