Annual Northwest Forest Pass (National Forests in Washington and Oregon ONLY)
Not sure about other states, but for those of you heading to forest service land in Washington and Oregon, you can get busted if you do not have a permit.
This mean for day use and camping overnight. Several years ago no permit was required, but for the past three years I have bought one. They make it really simple to get online too. I ordered mine Wednesday afternoon at 3 PM, and it arrived today in my mailbox. http://www.discovernw.org/mm5/graphi.../PLU09942b.jpg |

Yes, as Rob stated, the fees go to a lot of uses.
Are you a frequent visitor to recreation day-use fee sites on national forests in Washington and Oregon? An annual "day-use" pass will save you time, money, and the need to pay at each fee site! Your purchase also helps the Forest Service operate and maintain the sites you visit. Not sure if your destination requires a pass? Check the list of participating national forests below. * Honored at all Forest Service day-use fee sites in Washington and Oregon. * Interchangeable between vehicles in the same household. * An annual motorcycle pass decal may be purchased in lieu of an annual pass hangtag for display on your motorcycle or open-top vehicle. * Valid for one year from the last day of the month issued. * Admits pass holder and any accompanying passengers in a private vehicle at unstaffed sites. * Admits the pass holder at per-person sites. Other members in the party must pay the per-person fee. * Hang on rear-view mirror in vehicle. * Passes are NON-REFUNDABLE, NON-TRANSFERABLE, and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. Note: Passes are physical passes that are mailed out. No printable passes are available at this time.
