Just got a new sunroof in my FJ

Hi all, Corey wanted me to post some pics of my new ride. At least now there's some mod to show off. I know a lot of you wouldn't make a sunroof you're first mod. But I need sunshine! I wish it were a little bigger, but I'm pretty happy with it overall.

$1050 with tax and all. Nice of them to throw in the map light for free.

Sweet! Nice big one! And you had to get a power one, didn't you?

I need one for my new truck, but I am going to get a pop up. Cheaper, and I like the way it looks with it popped up. And I'm pretty good with taking out the glass too, when I want.

Warning to Corey: Once you get one, you won't be able to live without one in your future vehicles.

I second that. I had one in my second gen, and it became a must when I was looking for my 3rd gen.

Looks great, I like the maplight as well. Did they have to remove the stock lamp behind the sunroof?

I can't tell from the photos, but how does the the rubber back edge of the sunroof seal with the 'corrugated' nature of the roof?

Aftermarket sunroofs scare me.

I hope it was a reputable shop that put it in.

It seems like they mushed the sealer down in there pretty good. I guess time will tell.

They moved the dome back a little I think but it's still there. The sunroof pushes the roof down a couple inches so there's some bevelling effect as you go from right to left across the roof. Also if there's any car that can handle it's roof coming down a couple inches with no head-room problem it's the FJ.

This is a dumb question, but FJs come with two dome lights right? I now have the map light in front, dome light in the middle, and dome light in back. For some reason I never noticed the one in back before.

I know it's a place all the dealers go to. So I kind of took a leap of faith on that. The only real concern I have is that there's some unique problem with the FJ's and those grooves that surfaces over time.

My new Taco has the grooves too. I'm glad to see your sunroof was installed successfully. I hope they can move my lamp too. I'd hate to lose it. I hope to have mine installed in a month or so. It's getting to be sunroof weather!!!

Looks good! After I bought my first car with a sunroof, I swore that every vehicle I owned thereafter would either have a sunroof or be a convertible.

Wow, install looks very clean. Looks almost OEM.

My wife's '00 4Runner has an aftermarket sunroof that was installed by the previous owner. The outfit that installed it did a crappy job though. Oh well, at least it doesn't leak. After seeing hers, doubt I'll ever own another vehicle that has had an aftermarket sunroof installed.

Matt,

What did this do to the speakers that are an internal part of the headliner? I understand there are special speakers built into the headliner in the area that would be used by the sunroof.
