EGR Delete problem?
I decided to do an EGR delete for my 3.0, everything seemed to go smoothly and there arent any apparent leaks in the exhaust or the intake but it is idling pretty rough now and shot some sparks out the exhaust. I read somewhere that you are required to advance the timing but i cannot find it anymore. is this true? if so how many degrees?

This isnt something that comes up in T100 land as often as in the older pickups (Hilux.)
It might be easier to find info if you disguise yourself as a pickup owner and check that forum. I looked into this with my 22RE and found it had no benefit, other than making more pollution, so I just cleaned that system out completely and fixed all the sensors and vacuum leaks. After that the truck ran great for a long time. But if EGR delete is your game, I think the Hilux forums will have more info. |

You dont have to advance the timing but these engines like it. I have mine set at 15. Im willing to bet you have a vacuum leak here:

What I don't understand is the timing thing.
You said you couldn't find it anymore. I'm assuming you jumped te1 and e1 to check/set timing. More info Mine likes 15 also. |

Alright, i plugged the bolt hole and it runs fine now, adjusting timing now, is the there a vaccum advance or anything i need to unplug before adjusting?
|
no vacuum advance on the timing, its all electronically based. As long as you jumped the te1 and e1in the diagnosis port when you set the timing, your all set to go. enjoy!!

So as i was digging thru my motor, i saw a bunch of vacuum hoses clustered by the alernator and there is a plug un-plugged... i looked at vacuum diagrams and none of them show this (i think)... im not sure what it is or if i want it plugged in!
Attachment 169029 http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psc8b5848b.jpg Edit: I did relocate these when i took out my air box, they are upside down mounted where the airbox was instead of on the airbox. it was unplugged then also. ABS maybe? |
