Code 52 on my 94 T100 DX
This little darling has been with me since I first drove her off the lot nearly a quarter century ago. We’ve had some fine adventures, and she has done everything I’ve asked of her. Now she is blinking a Code 52 which translates to a Knock Sensor problem. Thanks to these great Toyota forums and the fantastic folks happily sharing their knowledge and experience, I am almost ready to replace the troublesome sensor. The only thing needed is the new knock sensor (and misc gaskets and wires). So, the dealer parts man quoted me a list price of about $250 for the sensor, and one of the shops that has worked on my truck quotes a price of $189. What appears to be the same Denso part (89615-50010) is available on line and on eBay for around $25. My dealer parts guy says they must be fakes. Does anyone have experience with these low cost, but seemingly identical parts? Is the only difference the amount of pain I feel in my wallet, or is the low priced sensor really cheap junk, as the parts guy suggests, that does not belong on my truck?
