Wire Around ADD Relay
1 Attachment(s)
Having trouble with the Transfer Pressure Switch.
Using the attached diagram, is it possible to wire around the Switch at the ADD Relay? |
Are you wanting to eliminate the Transfer case pressure switch??
If the switch has failed why not replace it. You do know that is a safety to keep you from cooking your transfer case To answer your Question Yes |
Here is the problem.
I replaced the Tranny with a used unit. The Front axle would not engage after the swap. Thinking it was an ADD issue, I have checked all ADD components and yesterday, found out that the used tranny does not have the ADD Transfer Pressure Switch in the transfer case like the old tranny did. I would like to wire around this Transfer Pressure Switch, or lack thereof, as a temporary measure until I can get the old tranny rebuilt and reinstalled. All other ADD components are working as designed. Vehicle is a 93 4Runner, 3.0 Can I simply unplug it at the relay or is there something else that needs to be done ? Thanks for the reply.. |
I see you have no understanding of electrical circuits at this time .
If you look at your schematic you will see that the pressure switch when closed allows the coil ( Electromagnet ) in the ADD relay to be grounded This moves the contact in the ADD relay .from engaged to disengaged allowing things to lock and unlock Now when the relay is energized it allows the ADD Solenoid to be open or closed Which means if you want your 4Wheel drive to be able to engage and disengage or be just be disengaged you need to install a switch coming off pin two of the ADD relay the other side of the switch to ground If you just ground pin 2 of the ADD relay the ADD will been engaged all the time Massive Torque Bind if your on dry road If this is the correct schematic for what your working with |
Wyoming9, Thanks for the reply.
Would the switch you are referring to be something that is manually activated or can this be automatically activated when you switch into 4wd? I do understand basic electricity and how it flows, etc. I just wasn't sure how this particular relay operated. |
Since your saying the switch is gone from what is now in your vehicle it would be something you operate by hand
