power window issue
 

My drivers window hasn't worked in a year and half but I got used to it and never fixed it. Now that I want to sell the truck I'm finally getting around to fixing it. (funny how that works)
When it stopped working it was an intermittent problem. It stopped working one day, started working again a month later and stopped for good a week after that, luckily in the up position each time.
Tonight I pulled the door panel off and checked for juice at the plug for the motor. There is 12V from ground to one wire with the switch up and 12V from ground to the other one with the switch down. So it must be the motor right?
Well I pulled the motor out of the door and hot wired it to the battery. It ran through it's range both ways with out problems. It just occuried to me as I was typing this that there might be build up in the window tracks causing too much friction for the motor to overcome hmmmm crap why don't I think of these things when I'm working on the truck at 10PM.
Another piece of the puzzle is the passenger window has always worked (slow sometimes) but when I took the drivers door panel off and started testing I tried the passenger window and it didn't work. Both motors tick when I try to get them to move.
One idea I had was the control switch might have worn contacts and isn't able to move enough current. But neither the drivers or passenger control switch will move the window. Any ideas, experience, wisdom to share?

In my experience, it was caused by the lack of lubrication on the tracks, or the fact that the glass was not even sitting on the part that allows it to go down and up. I am actually having a similar problem with my Heep at the moment, so if I were you, I would check these out. It could also be the switch.
