LED lighting
I am wondering if anyone has tried any of the led lighting that is around. I've seen a few of the light bars around at the dunes, but mostly I haven't been all that impressed with them compared to a nice set of HIDs.
I've not really gotten to have a close look at any of them, but from what I could tell they lacked the throw (for lack of a better word? :dunno:) of a good HID in a parabolic reflector. More specifically I came across these the other day. Scoprion LED Pricey, but they advertise over 11k lumens, which is just insanely bright for a 5 inch light. I can't really find any 3rd part opinions on them though. Side note for the mods: Do you think we could add an auxiliary automotive lighting section under electronics? |

i got some Rigid industries LED: 3" * 3" flood pattern, four led each only 15w draw, 1300 lumens.. Mounted the in my bumper to add vision at night for the road trips, because stock lights suck ! i angled the down a bit so i wont blind people. Im very happy with them, feels like daylight, easy install and adjustment! im shure the straight pattern will be bad ass ! only 150....but worth it

Dirtco also added some to his 99 4runner.
Check his build thread Edit: moved to the section we already had... This showed up too: Rigid LED review |

I actually found a pretty decent discussion on those lights I linked on Dezert Rangers that actually has some pics of their beam pattern with comparisons of other lights. They are quite impressive, but 500 dollars each impressive, I'm not quite sure. Still thinking a decent HID conversion in some Hella housings is more light for your money.

I actually installed LED Light bars on my 97Runner:
LED Light Bar 6" - 6000K with 2160 Lumen Light Output LED Work lights - 18W puts out 1900 Lumen light output SO far they are really bright and doesnt drain my batteries. |
