How to Wire an alternator?

Ok guys. I am having a huge electrical problem. I can not get the alternator to charge for the life of me. Battery, alternator, and starter are all brand new. I live on the mississippi Gulf Coast, and this truck went under 20 feet of salt water during Hurricane Katrina. Basically, the problem is in the wiring, and it could be anywhere. The truck runs fine, and I have been using it and just swapping/charging batteries every other day, and since this is a mud only truck it does not get used very often. It is a 1987 Toyota on 35/14.50/15 gumbo monster muddeers.

Anyway, to my question.

Is there any way to bypass everything and just make the alternator charge when the truck is running, without going through the entire system? I have looked into 1 wire alternators, and that would be perfect for me, but I haven't found any that are a OEM replacement for the truck. I dont run alot of electrical stuff, so the stock alternator is fine for me.

Anyway, any help you guys can give is surely appreciated.

Rob

Hey there. I've noticed this post sitting for a while, so I thought I'd reply just in case you haven't figured it out. Rather than getting into it myself, I thought I'd just refer you to a good article with links to other equally good articles. This was written for tractors I think, as this is where it lives in my favorites list. However, the principles are exactly the same for your purposes. If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me.
