cig lighter power problem need help
so the cigarette lighter in my 91 ex cab is not working, ive checked all the normal things, fuses etc and i can not find the problem. anyone know if there are any hidden fuses or fusible links im missing?
there is power to the fuse in the block on the driver side so im at a loss. any help is appreciated |
Don't know of any "hidden" fuses unless your PO added one which is possible...
Have you had the lower dash apart? the wire might have come loose from the back of it or there could be a break some where along the harness... |
pop the lower bezel off and feel behind there, one of the wire connectors could have come off the back, or they may be permanently attached to the back and there will be a plug about 3" back. Also make sure it is clean inside and can actually make a good connection. ANd make sure the thing you are trying to plug in actually works as well. Nothing hidden either it is a straight shot from the fuse to the socket. A multimeter would tell you right away if you had continuity between the fuse and the socket....maybe the ground bolt is off or something

Probably a blown fusible link:

I am going to say it is the fusible link too.

I"m having the same problem. Took the dash apart and tested for voltage. Was showing voltage to the lighter with the key ON. Is this fusible link located directly on the back of the lighter outlet? or is it somewhere along the line leading to the lighter?
