Charging Challenge ??
New vehicle to me. 87 4Runner 22REC manual
Multimeter tests Engine running !! voltage at battery @ 12 VDC with headlights and blower on high drops to just under 12 VDC Dash lights not on no Charge light or Battery light All the fusible links have been tested for continuity:fire2: as well as all the fuses to tell the truth I just put all new fuses in just to be safe. I also swapped in a working alternator off a running vehicle as well as a new battery up graded the ground cables. New Battery terminals as well The volt meter on the dash is not working as well as no charge light or the brake light Check engine light I am not real sure. I am thinking a corrosion problem perhaps in the left side in cab fuse block. My next step is to pull that off after that check for voltage at the alternator plug Back to the drawing board:jessica: |
In the fuse box Under there is a 7.5 amp fuse ,if it is good try jumping 12v to it with the motor running. If the charging system starts working the charge light bulb is bad. At least that is a quick test for a truck without the volt meter,it might still work. It should charge untill the motor is shut off.

Not to leave you all hanging but it was a dirty connection that took all of 10 minutes to find and fix once I knew which Fuse to look at.
It sucks now that Toyota sold the Service Manuals to Helm Inc a former $15.00 electrical manual is now $60.00 and people complained about the $15.00 price. To me this is the only manual I will buy |
