auto-off headlight modification?

I have a 1990 Pickup, 22r.
I want to modify it so that my lights turn off when I turn off the engine... last night I went to start the car after work and had left the lights on all day so I drained the battery. I've left the lights on a couple times now but luckily this is the first time I've done it all day.

Does anyone here have experience with a modification for this?
I'm wondering what terminology I need to look up. Are there kits or just simple modifications I can do for this?
Thanks,
Alex

Are you sure ??

Just Power the Headlight circuit with Switched Power

I would need to look at the EWD for that year and model

Should be as simple as energizing the Head Light relay with switched power

Probably easier to just fix/replace the light reminder (buzzer).

His truck probably never had one from the factory.

I know mine doesn't, but it is a 1987.

oh huh, I hadn't thought about the buzzer. I do have a buzzer that sounds when I start my truck but it doesn't sound when I leave the lights on and turn the truck off..

wyoming9 ? Sure? you mean, am I sure that I want to do it?

Let me clarify, I have a buzzer for leaving my keys in the ignition when you open the door but no headlight reminder buzzer.

My truck has never had a headlight reminder buzzer.

Yes are you sure you want to do this project ??

The only thing holding you back is your budget .

The tech is here to do this as sophisticated as you want.

I am sure with some thinking on your part you can make your lights do whatever you want
