'93runner no reverse lights
I have looked around and can't find exactly what I need.
The problem is, '93 4runner, 3.0v6, 4x4 sr5, 5 speed, the reverse lights have gone out. It is a new to me vehicle, and I don't know if they ever worked. Both bulbs are good and all the fuses are good. Is there a common problem spot in the system on these? or have I got a ghost. I checked the connections on all the wires coming out of the tranny that I could find. I guess what I am asking is for the fuse location for the reverse lights, the relay location, and the exact spot of the switch on the tranny. there is no voltage at the light socket, so I think my problem is upstream form there? I am also looking for a factory servivce manual so I can make an attempt at finding out for myself, but I haven't found one yet. Any help would be appreciated. thanks. |
my 94 hasnt has reverse lights in a year and a half.... they just stopped working one day. i've done the same thing, check fuses, traced wires, torn my tailgate apart etc etc. do you licence plate lights work because mine stopped working wiht the revese lights. (note my sig, my trucks becoming a rolling electrical problem..)

I am thinking it is a bad relay, or backup light switch? I just need to find these things. |
Switch in the tranny, usually near the fill plug, driver's side (look for the thing with wires coming off it). See if the switch is connected and if it makes contact in reverse or not. On the backup lights, if they are in the tail gate, check the wiring there, one connector there can get pulled apart by the window:
